The Jersey County Star newspaper went online September 1, 2009 after 14 years as an award-winning community newspaper in Jersey County.

Due to health and mobility problems, as editor, I made the decision to "close up shop"  but remain active in the community and continue to give the readers of the website (www.thejcstar.com) the news that affects every day of their lives.

Because the website is 24/7 and free, I am able to  update obituaries, births, announcements, local news, etc. daily!

Newspapers in today's world are having trouble competing with online sites. But that was not the case with the Star, the other complications made it unrealistic to continue in that vein.

So now I ask that you make www.thejcstar.com your home page. Also, I hope that you pay attention to the advertisers who are on the website. Because of them, I am able to continue doing what I love, community journalism (only in a new way!)

The website operates as a newspaper, only without the ink.  I am glad to take photographs, news articles, engagement announcements, anniversaries, etc. With the website, we are not only reaching those in Jersey County but across the globe!

To submit articles, etc. send them to www.thejcstar.com and I would be glad to get them in.

Editor

P.S. With my interest in Jersey county, I am now doing a hour-long radio show on WJBM-AM 1480  in Jerseyville. When you pull up the Star website, click on the WJBM icon and listen online!!
