Obituary – Joann Johnson

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday (10 a.m.) at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville for Joann Johnson.

Mrs. Johnson, 75, formerly of Carrollton, died November 9 at Missouri Baptist Hospial in St. Louis.

She was born March 19, 1934 on the family farm west of Michael, the daughter  of the late John and Dorothy (Barry) Baumann. She married Joseph A. Johnson in 1953.

She grew up in Calhoun county and graduated in 1952 from Hardin High School. For many years, she and her husband lived in Carrollton and was employed for 19 years at the Butler Dairy Bar and also in dietary at Boyd Memorial Hospital, both in Carrollton.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph A. Johnson of Jerseyville; two daughters, Linda Sievers of Jerseyville and Peggy Dixon of Carrollton; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville; prayer service will be at 3:45 p.m.

Burial will be in St. Norbert’s Cemetery in Hardin.

Memorials may be made to the Holy Ghost Catholic Church for the purchase of new candelabras.
