Three blood drives upcoming
The American Red Cross will host blood drives at three locations:
Thurday, November 12 – 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Calhoun High School in Hardin; to make an appointment go to www.givelife.org.
Friday, November 13 – 1 to 7 p.m. Jersey Community Church of the Nazarene; to make an appointment call 498-6983.
Wednesday, November 25 – 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jersey Community High School; to make an appointment call 498-6983.
All types of blood is needed to ensure the Red Cross maintains and adequate blood supply. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required to check-in. Donors must be in general good health, weigh at least 110 pounds and be at least 17 years old (16 in Illinois with completed parent consent form). New height and weight restrictions apply to donors younger than 19. Visit bloodisneeded.org to learn more. Walk-ins are welcome but appointments are encouraged.
Woodburning Workshop
Scott Gabriel will offer a woodburning workshop from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, November 14 at Open Studio, 105 East Main in Grafton. The workshop is free and the public is invited. Gabriel is an expert in the art of woodburning, which is also known as pyrography. No prior experience is necessary in order to take the workshop. Jerseyville Public Library Senior program
The Jerseyville Public Library will be hosting programs and activities for seniors age 60 and over.
Friday, November 20 – The Pixar movie “UP” is being released and will be shown at the library from 7 to 9 p.m. that evening. Come and laugh and cry at this wonderful, animated film with the voice of Ed Asner. No need to register. Call the library with questions at 498-9514.
Panther/Southwestern Trivia Night
The Panther/Southwestern Hockey Trivia Night will be Saturday, November 21 at the Jerseyville Elks Lodge. Doors open at 6 p.m., first question at 7 p.m. Cost will $10 per person, $80 per table (each team limited to 8 members). Table reservations need to be in by noon that day. Contact Dom Schaaf at 498-3162 or any Panther/Southwestern Hockey player or parent for more information. All proceeds benefit the club.
Cholesterol/Blood Screening November 25
Jersey County Health Department is offering Cholesterol and Blood Sugar Testing ($25) by appointment Wednesday, November 25. Call 498-9565, ext. 301 for appointment.
